Strategy Generation Issues

Output far from your intent, or validation failing repeatedly? Usually a prompt problem—match your symptom below.
Output too generic
Check the prompt for the five essentials: symbol, timeframe, entry, exit, risk limit. Add what’s missing.
Two quick fixes:
- Switch to interview mode so the AI asks first;
- Turn goal-prompts (“make money”) into rule-prompts—templates in Generate a Strategy with AI.
Validation keeps failing
Let auto-repair finish
It runs automatically with an attempt limit.
Don’t grind a dead draft
At “repair attempts exhausted”, rephrase more simply and regenerate—usually passes first try.
Split complex strategies
Validate a basic version, then add conditions round by round.
Edits ripple into other rules
- One change per round: “only the stop loss, keep the rest”;
- Check the version diff after each round;
- Roll back if it went wrong.
Rollback deletes messages and backtest records after that version.
